Terms of use
These terms cover this website and the guidance we publish on it. If your organization uses FARO to run a card program, that relationship is governed by the agreement we sign with you, not by this page.
Our guidance is information, not advice
We publish guides on things like Regulation E, escheatment, know-your-business checks, audit preparation and grant reporting. They are written to help you ask better questions, not to answer them for you. They are not legal, financial, tax or compliance advice, and reading them does not create any professional relationship between us.
Rules differ by state, by program and by funder, and they change. Before you act on anything here, check it against your own circumstances with someone qualified to advise you.
Our interactive tools work out figures from what you type in. They are estimates based on assumptions we state on each tool. They are not quotes, and they are not a promise of what anything will cost you.
We try hard to be accurate and we date our sources. We do not promise the site is free of errors or always current. If you find something wrong, please tell us: it helps everybody using it.
Using the site
You are welcome to read, print, quote and share our guidance, including in your own funding applications and board papers. We would appreciate a link back, but we do not require one.
Please do not:
- Present our material as your own work.
- Republish a guide wholesale as a competing resource.
- Try to get at parts of the site that are not public, or share a private link you were sent with people it was not meant for.
- Use automated tools in a way that degrades the site for other people. Ordinary crawling is fine, and our robots file says what we welcome.
Documents shared with you privately
Some documents are shared with a named person through a private link, sometimes with a password. If you were sent one, it was meant for you. Every such page says so, and tells you that we can see when it has been opened. Please do not pass the link on without asking us.
Links to other organizations
We link to vendors, funders, regulators and other nonprofits where it helps. Sometimes we will tell you that a different provider fits your situation better than we do. A link is not an endorsement and we are not responsible for what is on the other end of it.
Donations
Donations are processed by Every.org, a 501(c)(3) that handles the payment and issues your receipt. Financial Aid & Resilience Organization Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 30-1450336, so gifts are tax-deductible in the United States to the extent the law allows. We cannot advise you on your own tax position.
What we are not liable for
We publish this material free and in good faith. To the extent the law allows, FARO is not liable for loss arising from decisions you take based on it. That is not us dodging responsibility for our service: if you are our client, the agreement between us governs what we owe you, and it is a great deal more than this page.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, where FARO is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
